Why Use Anti-Fatigue Mats?

Knowing why you should use anti-fatigue mats and how they work can help you determine if you should incorporate them into your workspace. At Commander Warehouse, they want to help make your workspace as comfortable and efficient as possible. That is why they offer a range of anti-fatigue mats that are perfect for all kinds of workspaces.

What are Anti-Fatigue Mats?

Anti-fatigue mats, also known as workstation matting, are specifically designed to help reduce fatigue caused by standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Anti-fatigue matting is available in a selection of different materials (rubber, carpet, vinyl, and wood), making it easy to find the perfect matting for your workstation.

When Should Anti-Fatigue Mats be Used?

While footwear with thick insulating soles and shock absorbing insoles can prevent a lot of the fatigue associated with standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time, anti-fatigue mats can also help absorb the shock caused by walking, as its cushioning effect reduces foot fatigue. By combining proper footwear with workstation matting, workers can easily eliminate the problem of sore feet, improving their overall working conditions.

How Do Anti-Fatigue Mats Work?

Workers who tend to stand for long periods of time on hard surfaces are often affected by the physical fatigue caused by their leg muscles becoming static and constricted. The longer the worker stands on a hard surface, the harder their legs and heart have to work to keep them in the upright position, causing a reduction in blood flow, as well as pain and discomfort.

Anti-fatigue mats work to alleviate this problem by allowing leg muscles to subtly contract and expand as they adjust to the flexibility of the mat. This slight muscle movement helps increase blood flow and the amount of oxygen reaching the heart, which can help greatly reduce the fatigue of standing for hours on end.
