Electric Water Heater FAQs

Below, we have listed off some of the most common questions that we get asked about electric water heaters. Feel free to give Expert Electric a call with any questions not featured on this list.

Are electric water heaters as effective as gas water heaters?

Electric water heaters are even faster and more effective at heating up water than gas heaters. They are more efficient with energy, safer to use, and last longer with less maintenance.

Are tankless water heaters worth investing in?

Tankless water heaters can be an incredible money saver and they are much better for the environment than conventional water heaters. Although they are often more expensive than regular water heaters to install, they can save you money due to their energy and water efficiency in the long run and you will always have a continuous stream of hot water.

Why do I always run out of hot water?

If you are constantly running out of hot water, this could be because you have the temperature on your hot water heater set too low. You can increase this but do so carefully, as your electric water heater could become a scalding hazard.

Why is there no hot water coming from my electric water heater?

If your electric water heater is not producing hot water, it could be that one of the electrical elements needs to be replaced. While electric water heaters require less maintenance and do not break down as frequently as gas water heaters, it is possible for the heating elements to malfunction.

Why is my electric water heater making noise?

The most common cause of a noisy electric water heater is that sediment has gotten into the bottom of the tank and the heating elements are burning the sediment. This can often be solved by flushing the tank and cleaning the element, but make sure you contact a licensed electrician to make sure you do not damage the heater.
