Uses for a 500-Ton Crane

19 Feb 2019 Mobile Cranes

In many cases, when companies become limited in the types of projects that they can take on, it is not due to a lack in ability but, rather, it is for want of the right equipment. As Western Canada’s foremost mobile crane provider, Eagle West Crane and Rigging, supplies a wide variety of mobile cranes across British Columbia. Our most capable mobile crane is a 500-ton crane, which has uses in many of the different industries that we serve.

About the 500-Ton Crane

With the largest reach, radius, and lift capacity of any mobile crane, the 500-ton crane has the potential to add value to any company seeking large-scale hoisting services. The crane is a Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 and it is ideal for use in tight spaces due to its compact nature, adjustable ballast, and multi-axle steering. The telescopic boom can extend from 15.4 metres to 60 metres and, with the lattice jib assembled, the 500-ton crane has a hoist height of 130 metres. The crane has a lifting radius of 100 metres and the load capacity maxes out at 400 tons. In order to become an operator of the 500-ton crane, years of training and practice are required. Operators must work their way up through smaller cranes and be trained on the Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 by an experienced professional. For this reason, every crane rental from Eagle West Crane and Rigging comes with a fully trained operator.
