Wedding Trends for 2020

23 Jul 2020 Weddings

While a wedding is meant to be a celebration filled with hugs and kisses, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it nearly impossible for couples to have traditional weddings in 2020. Instead, couples have had to get creative by incorporating social distancing into their weddings. At InStyle Floor Wraps, they understand how important your special day is to you. That is why they have put together a list of some of their favourite socially distant wedding trends for 2020 to help you celebrate your special day in style.

1. Live Streaming Your Wedding

Live streaming has been embraced by many couples around the world who do not want to cut down on the number of people who can celebrate their special day with them. If you are thinking about live streaming your wedding, consider hiring an AV expert to film the entire wedding, record the session, and set up a big screen at your venue to project your guests on a video chatting platform during the ceremony, wedding speeches, and dancing.

2. Mini Ceremonies

One of the most ideal solutions for having a wedding during the pandemic is to cut down the guest list so that only a handful of people will be in attendance. Having a mini ceremony will allow you to get married in front of your closest family and friends, so that way you will only have to postpone the main celebration until after social distancing restrictions have been lifted.

3. Micro Weddings

Similar to mini ceremonies, micro weddings allow you to have smaller weddings with about 50 guests in attendance. If you decide to go this route for your wedding, consider using the money you will save from lower guest numbers to indulge a little more on live entertainment, gourmet food, and top-shelf liquor.

4. Shift Weddings

If you have your heart set on keeping your large guest list, consider hosting smaller groups of guests in shifts so that you can still celebrate will all of your loved ones while maintaining social distancing guidelines.

5. Wear Masks

Rather than buying your wedding party matching socks or robes, consider buying them matching face masks. The bride and groom can also buy face masks that are designed to tie into their wedding day ensembles.

6. Unique Ceremony Seating

While wedding ceremonies usually have compact seating, having a socially distant wedding means that you may need to rethink your seating arrangement or to ask guests to stand. If the space allows for it, consider arranging seats in a circle configuration around the alter to allow guests to spread out without impeding their view.
